Using these files
Files are static and served from stable URLs under https://www.deported.co.uk/data/; they are safe to fetch programmatically. Each generated JSON file carries a generated_at timestamp and a source field naming the government publication it was built from. Where the Updated column shows a cadence instead of a date, the file is hand-maintained and its vintage is recorded inside the file itself.
Definitions (what counts as a return, why port refusals are separate, how revisions work) are on the methodology and definitions page. For when each file next changes, see the release calendar. Every page on the site also has a Markdown twin at the same path (for example /returns.md) for language models and scripts.
Licence and reuse
- Underlying data. All figures originate from official UK government publications and are Crown copyright, reused here under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Site compilations. The compiled files on this page are free to reuse, including commercially, with attribution to deported.co.uk and to the government source named in each file.
- Provisional data. Daily small boats figures and the latest quarters of several series are provisional and revised at each official release; files always reflect the latest published vintage.
- Hand-maintained files. one-in-one-out.json and policy-timeline.json are compiled by hand from named statements and publications, because no single official dataset exists; each entry names its own source.
